Roses for a Relative

There’s something rather special about giving flowers as a gift to a woman in your life – but they never last.

This bouquet of crochet roses was made as a gift, with each flower created in parts and assembled to form a full, colourful bouquet. 💜💛🤍

For this project, I used a combination of small, medium and large petals, building them up layer by layer (hot glue gun) to create the full, rounded shape of a Thai rose. Using different petal sizes gives each flower its own depth and character, while also helping the bouquet feel naturally full.

The colour combination of white, yellow and purple was chosen as those were her favourite colours, but they complement one another, with the different shades bringing a lovely mix of warmth and softness to the arrangement.

The roses are attached to handmade stems using dowels, and florist tape, with some crocheted greenery, before being arranged in a simple glass vase filled with decorative white stones. A deep purple ribbon finishes the bouquet and ties all of the colours together.

One of my favourite things about making crochet flowers is that really simple petals, turn into beautiful flowers, that last forever. They’re handmade, it’s thoughtful, they’re beautiful.
