This is Trevor.
Technically, Trevor is a draft excluder. But in our house, he has never actually been asked to exclude a draft (we didn’t have doors when he was made). Instead, he has been given a much more important job — sitting proudly along the top of our headboard.
Trevor is one of those projects that looks a little more complicated than it actually is. The knitting itself is really simple, making him a lovely project if you’re looking for something straightforward to work on without having to concentrate too hard.
The colours are completely up to you. You could make him bright and colourful, keep things neutral, use up some leftover yarn, or make him match the room he’s destined to live in. There really isn’t a right or wrong combination.
Trevor is knitted using straight needles, and there’s no complicated shaping involved while you’re working your way along. The clever bit comes right at the end, when the way he is constructed creates his shape.
And, of course, Trevor was never supposed to be a solo project.
Mark is currently meant to be making his own version, which will be called Trevorette. Whether Trevorette will ever actually be completed is another question entirely… but Trevor is patiently waiting.
For now, though, Trevor is perfectly happy where he is — keeping watch from the top of the headboard, looking considerably more decorative than a normal draft excluder ever could.
